LFH Receives Donation of CoreScope through Grant

L. F. Henderson Intermediate School science students are seeing things they have never seen before…literally.  Thanks to an organization called Donorchoice, students in Mrs. Shelia Vaughn’s 5th grade science classes now have a new digital instrument called a CoreScope.

A CoreScope is a high-powered digital microscope capable of projecting clear, sharp images directly to a computer, and with the help of newly installed Smart Boards, what in the past could only be viewed by one student at a time can now be projected for an entire classroom.

In September, LFH applied for the grant from the Rockerfeller Foundation, who in turn sent their application to the Donorchoice organization.  In October, LFH received confirmation that Donorchoice had found two donors (RBC Blue Water Project and Arkansas Community Foundation SIMS Grant Program) willing to purchase the CoreScope for the school.

In November, the $500 CoreScope arrived, and the students and Mrs. Vaughan have been enjoying it ever since.
